4Fits on HK MP5 SD .22LR
By Prime Meridian
Just wanted to let folks know this sight will fit on top of an H&K MP5 SD .22LR. Installation was a bit tricky, though.

Mounting: The sight claws hook under the short, raised mounting "ribs" on the sides of the upper receiver. I had to remove the two left side claws, hook the fixed claws under the right hand side ribs, and swing/press the sight down onto the upper receiver. That was the tricky part: the back of the sight has a small slot cut in the bottom that allows it to match up with an otherwise inconspicuous slot on top of the receiver. Basically, the bottom back of the sight sits in a slot on top of the receiver to keep it from shifting forward/backward once its installed. It's a nice setup. However, my sight had a very tight fit in that upper receiver slot. I could have filed down the inside edge of the slot on the receiver, but I just installed the left side claws and screwed them down to get the sight level and snug. Not ideal, but it worked. I will say this: it mounted up rock-solid; it's not going anywhere.

Co-Witness: You can still use the iron sights to co-witness with the sight installed. (If you want to cut down on sight picture clutter you can remove the rear sight & front sight blade.)

Clarity: The view through the sight has that faint tint that most low-end reflective sights have. The red dot is plenty bright, but it's not as sharp as other dots I've used (even the Vortex StrikeFire).

Accuracy: I got it zeroed in easily enough. Time will tell if it will hold that zero well.

I'm docking half a star for the mounting fit/finish and another half for the clarity of the dot and tint of the optics. However, keep in mind that buying a separate rail mount and red dot sight (that wouldn't even co-witness) would cost twice as much as this NcStar sight.

I'll post a durability update after I've had a chance to use it more.

5It works very well for $30!
By Chad
At first I was a little hesitant to purchase a $30 red dot sight, but after a 10-15 minutes at the range, I easily sighted it in! It was a tight fit on my H&K MP5 A4 22LR, but works flawlessly for a $30 sight!

5Great option for Umarex MP5SD22.
By KC in VA.
This mount fit perfectly on my Umarex MP5SD22. Initially I had purchased a claw rail mount made by UTG, but it did not fit the Umarex ($20 down the tubes). This all-in-one solution is simple and effective. I have fired 300 or so rounds with this in place and have not had any problems. Zeroing is straightforward if you have a bore sight laser and it holds zero. It is a good value if you need a simple Red Dot.
