This ruggedly built optic will stand up to recoil, abuse, and weather. Key features include multi-coated lenses, adjustable diopter, integrated lens covers, and three picatinny rail mounting points. It took about 10 shots to sight it in and I am keeping a consistent grouping of 1" or so at 100 yards (using common winchester UMC 55 gr). It is nice to be able to choose between green, red or black reticles. Only the green and red are illuminated. There are tactical rails on 3 sides in case you wanted to mount something like a burris fast fire or some other red dot optic for really close stuff. The 5x is nice for 50-200 yards, but as I said before, the 5x does not work for quick target acquisition, especially moving targets under 50 yards...
The vision through the optic is large and very sharp. You will have no problem seeing your target. Because the eye relief is 2.5" to 3.5", I mounted this optic all the way back. towards the shooter, on flat top rail.
The optic is very durable. Its built very tough.
I am very happy with the addition of the burris 5x optic on my AR.

I ended up returning the Burris for a refund. I had purchased the scope to mount on a Sig 556 .223 AR type rifle that would be primarily used for hog hunting during the day and often at night. My first impressions were great, fit and finish are wonderful and typical of what I would have expected from Burris. The optics are clear in both sunny and low light conditions. I didn't notice a lot of distortion. After mounting, I noticed that the reticle was canted to the right slightly. This was fixed by by remounting the scope unit in it's own mount with considerable pressure to compensate. (not really a good thing). The reticle is extremely small and crowded, the bullet drop compensation is nice but too crowded for my taste. The illuminated reticle is handy but impossible to use in low light or night hunting, even on the lowest setting it would blow out the entire sight picture. My first impressions were great, but functionally (for me) the scope needs some changes. I think Burris is a great company, but this model needs to go back to the drawing board - sell a better base with it, expand the reticle (a lot) and illuminate your BDC and not the entire reticle pattern.

great site, clear, crisp, and the lighting is great the only reason I gave it a three is the the rectical in the center of the optic is to small and hard to make out really quick unless the light is turned up all the way either green or red. If it was bigger like the rectical on a regular scope it would be perfect.
