By S. E. Carver
12.8.2012; * UPDATE * A) 2 more sights acquired B) last 4 digits of number in c) below ae different for each unit> likely serial number C) switches were as in d) below except one unit came with on/off/on switching without dis-assembly at switch D) light scatter in dark from the green laser with a fresh battery is enough to make out some surrounding detail in darkness.
Same REC.: 4.6/5 stars.
12.2.2012; Amazon; Green Pistol Laser Sight; ASIN: B009951V46; test devices: Beretta px4 Storm-9mm, Mossberg 590 12ga.
received sample inspected/ installed/ tested:
a) came with 1.3mm allen key to adjust laser POA (point of aim); 3mm allen key; small phillips screwdriver for two screws of battery bay or 4 screws to mount pressure switch; (6) extra screws; (4) Energizer LR-44 button batteries (uninstalled); 24" cable pressure switch (pro)
b) no instructions (con)
c) sight marked on L with an illegible button logo that looks like "unilei" and a printed no.: G040121031019 (sn?)
d) switch is like a propeller with ribbed finger-pads at the tips that swings thru an 80 deg. arc, ("off" in the center, and "on" past a detente at either end of the 80 deg. arc) (this design allows "laser on" if switch is pushed far up or far down ambidextrously (PRO)); switch is positioned just in front of the trigger guard at the very rear of the sight and can be (barely) activated by index finger ambidextrously (pro); switch projects enough to be easily felt, but not enough to likely be caught on holster, holster activated, or activated by laying on hard surface (pro) ; when removed, the switch can be fully rotated, changing detents and point of arc in which the laser comes/stays on; laser on this unit occasionally fails to activate "on" at counter-clockwise position (CON). Does NOT appear to have an auto-off feature.
e) cable pressure switch at first appeared to be malfunctioning (steady on), until a small switch near the cable junction was moved. This allowed momentary laser from the pressure switch and/or steady-on laser by flipping small switch (pro)
f) laser axis is as close to bore axis as I've seen (pro) (43mm (1 11/16") under on beretta px4-9mm ; 25mm (1") over bore mounted to a receiver picatinny on a Mossberg 590 12ga. (in this config. a UTG open reflex sight was mounted behind this green pistol laser sight on the same picatinny rail & there was enough clearance for both sights to fully function))
g) a single spring-loaded thumb screw with a coin (quarter) slot tightens sight securely to weaver or picatinny rail (pro) and the sight can be easily installed/ removed w/o backing the screw out entirely (pro) (if the screw comes out and the clamp-rails separate, be sure to make sure the R (removable) rail fits properly in the small special alignment slot during reassembly)
h) green laser is strong (200m+ night, 40m- sunlight) with new batteries; batteries last about 1 hr. ; wt. is 1.5oz. with batteries ; 2 small phillips screws of battery cover can be retained in cover if not backed out entirely ; batteries accessible while sight is mounted (pro)
i) sight ht. is 19mm (3/4") when mounted (plus) ; llmm above trigger guard on px4; (with sight, will snugly holster in cloth conwayoutdoor USH-007 universal shoulder holster)
j) a tac. Light or other picatinny accessory can be easily mounted to the molded-in rail (PRO).
k) green laser POA is easily adjusted for windage & elevation while mounted with a 1.3mm allen key
l) POI appears to hold zero under firing and under sight removal/ re-installation (pro)
Will KEEP; would RECOMMEND ; purchased additional units; 4.6/5 stars
